MacDonald’s Group was established in 1933 by the late Mr. Hermanus Johannes (Mac) MacDonald. Initially, MacDonald’s Group focused on the carriage of livestock in South Africa and across boarder to Namibia. At the time, the fleet consisted of approximately 5 Mercedes Benz Truck Tractors. Our current chairman and erstwhile Executive Director Mr Coenrath Frederick MacDonald joined his father in 1983. He was both mechanic and truck driver for his father. He took control of the business in 1985 and quickly started expanding and developing the business, taking it to new heights.
MacDonald’s Group started phasing out the transportation of livestock and focused on bulk transportation. In later years MacDonald’s Group mainly operated in flat deck, refrigerated, tippers and more recently tanker transportation. Over the years MacDonald’s has evolved and developed, with its clients investing huge amounts of capital converting and developing its infrastructure to suit customer needs.
Mr Daniel Jacobus Janse van Rensburg joined MacDonald’s Group in 1996. He worked his way up in MacDonald’s Group and was appointed Chief Executive Officer and continues developing and driving the company forward.
